Frequently asked questions

How are my prayer times calculated?

RiseOnTime calculates Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha from your location, so the times match the sun where you actually are.

Why does the app ask for my location?

Prayer times depend on where you are. Your location is what lets the app show accurate times and the city name at the top of the home screen. You can read more in our privacy policy.

My prayer times look wrong. What can I do?

First check that location access is turned on for RiseOnTime in your phone's settings, and that the city shown on the home screen is where you are. If the times are still off, write to us with your city and the times you expected, and we'll look into it.

Why is the Hijri date different from my local mosque?

The Hijri date in the app is calculated. Many communities begin the month from a local moon sighting, so the two can differ by a day, especially at the start of a month.

Where do the daily verse and hadith come from?

Each daily Quran verse is shown with its surah and verse number, and each hadith with its collection and number, so you can always look up the source yourself.

The countdown isn't updating.

Close RiseOnTime completely and open it again. If that doesn't help, make sure the app is up to date in the App Store, then contact us if the problem continues.
